Experience 01  ·  The Girls' Trip

Nobody shares a bed.
Nobody gets the couch.

Five real bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, a wine refrigerator in the kitchen, a hot tub nobody else is allowed to use, and sand under your feet two minutes from the back door. This is the trip Sanctuary gets asked for most — and two of our reviews name a girls' weekend specifically.

Sanctuary  /  Experiences  /  The Girls' Trip

Every girls' trip has the same unspoken problem: somebody always gets the worst bed. The friend who booked last, the one who's easygoing about it, the one who ends up on an air mattress in a room with no door. Sanctuary is the house where that conversation never has to happen.

Why this house and not a condo

A rental that sleeps twelve usually means three bedrooms and a lot of creative math — bunk beds, a sleeper sofa, and someone whispering in the dark trying not to wake the two other people in the room. Sanctuary sleeps twelve across five separate bedrooms, and four of them have a bathroom attached. Getting ready for dinner does not become a scheduling exercise.

Then there's the location. Cape San Blas sits on Florida's Forgotten Coast, where roughly 90% of the surrounding land is protected. No high-rises, no beach clubs, no strip of bars. If your idea of a girls' weekend is a crowded pool deck with a DJ, this is the wrong house. If it's a long lunch, a bottle of wine on the deck, and a beach where you can see maybe four other people, it's the right one.

Absolutely the perfect house for a girls' getaway weekend. The heated floors in the master bathroom, along with the custom closet and panoramic views of the bay from the workspace off the master — these are all noteworthy upgrades that define this unique home.

The bedroom conversation, solved

Send this list to the group chat and let them sort it out themselves. Every one of these is a real room with a door.

  • Master Suite 1 — the sunrise room King bed, en-suite bath with heated floors, private east-facing deck over St. Joseph Bay. Whoever takes this room is awake at 6:45am with coffee, and by day two everyone else is joining her.
  • Master Suite 2 — the sunset room King bed, en-suite bath, private west-facing patio facing the Gulf. Ten steps from the fire pit, which makes it the unofficial headquarters after dinner.
  • Bedroom 4 — the hot tub room Queen bed, private half bath, overlooks the hot tub and the outdoor living deck. For the friend who will absolutely be soaking before anyone else is up.
  • The Carriage House Suite Queen bed, sitting area, full private bath, kitchenette, and its own front door reached by a covered bridge. The most-requested room among returning guests — thirty seconds from the group, completely separate when you want it.
  • The Bunk Room Four beds, a streaming TV, and games. Built for kids, but on a girls' trip it becomes the room where four people stay up far too late and nobody has to be quiet about it.

What's already here

The kitchen is genuinely built for cooking: pro-grade appliances, a wine refrigerator, and a table that seats twelve. The hot tub is private and yours for the whole stay — no wristbands, no closing time, no strangers. The fire pit has Adirondack chairs for the full group, and you can build a fire on the beach itself, which guests mention more than almost anything else.

Also included, so nobody has to pack it: all linens and towels, four beach chairs, two kayaks with life jackets and paddles, lawn games including cornhole, high-speed WiFi and Smart TVs in every room, a washer and dryer, private parking for the whole group, and a welcome basket. There's a private elevator too — a detail that sounds unnecessary until you're carrying groceries, wine, and beach bags up from the car.

What to bring

Food, drinks, and the group. St. Joe Shrimp Company is 100 yards away and sells shrimp off the boat for the grill, so plan at least one dinner around that. The Trading Post is a four-minute walk for the things you forgot.

One dog is welcome

A flat $75 per stay, not per night, and the beaches here are dog-friendly — one of the few stretches of the Gulf Coast where that's true.

Hour by Hour

A Saturday here, start to finish.

Not a schedule. Just what tends to happen when nobody has anywhere to be.

6:50a
Someone is already on Deck 1 with coffee, watching the bay turn gold. She will bring it up repeatedly for the rest of the weekend.
9:30a
Breakfast sandwiches and specialty coffee from Cape San Blas Coffee & Ice Cream, around the corner and open from 7:30am. Or someone cooks, because the kitchen makes that genuinely appealing.
11:00a
Beach chairs down the private boardwalk. Two minutes from the back door, no parking lot to cross. Four chairs are already in the house.
1:30p
Lunch at St. Joe Shrimp Company, 100 yards away — lunch served 11 to 4 — or take the kayaks into St. Joseph Bay for the clear water, the sea grass beds, and a decent chance of dolphins.
4:00p
The hot tub, or a nap, or the shaded deck. This is the hour nobody plans and everybody remembers.
6:30p
Wine from the refrigerator, shrimp on the grill, twelve at the table. If you'd rather not cook: Cone Heads is five minutes out, and the Indian Pass Raw Bar is fifteen and worth the drive.
7:45p
Everyone migrates to Deck 2 for the Gulf sunset. Ten minutes of silence, then the phones come out.
9:00p
Fire pit and Adirondack chairs — or a fire on the beach itself, which is what a past group did and wrote about afterward.
11:30p
Hot tub under a sky with almost no light pollution. Someone points out the Milky Way. Someone else argues about it.

The Part Nobody Expects

The weekend ends at the fire pit. Every time.

Every group plans the beach, the meals, and the hot tub. Nobody plans the two hours after dinner when everyone ends up around the fire and the conversation goes somewhere it hasn't gone in years.

That's the part guests write about when they get home. It's also the reason the same groups book again the following spring.

Send this page to the group chat.

It prints to a single page, so you can forward it, post it, or hand it to whoever still needs convincing. Spring and fall weekends are the best value on the calendar — and the first ones to go.
